Patty Townsend, Embodyoga, Teacher training

 

Patty Townsend is a master yoga teacher, the director of Yoga Center Amherst, and the developer of the Embodyoga® In-Depth Study and Teacher Training Programs. A long-time practitioner of Ashtanga Vinyasa, she has studied extensively with Ana Forrest, Richard Freeman, Angela Farmer, Aadil Palkhivala, and other senior teachers. Patty’s breath and awareness-centered teaching is profoundly influenced by the innovative approach to full embodiment taught by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.

She is a uniquely expressive and dynamic teacher who brings the synthesis of more than 35 years of study to her workshops with clarity, wisdom, and humor.

 
Susan Manafort, Embodyoga, teacher trainer

 

Suzanne Manafort - Director of Newington Yoga Center, is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She studied at Yoga Center Amherst with Patty Townsend, completing her 200 hour and 500 hour programs in Embodyoga®. She also completed 200 hour and 500 hour programs with Beryl Bender Birch and a teacher training with David Swenson.

Suzanne serves on the board of the Give Back Yoga Foundation. She also works with Veterans with PTSD in a program called PPRP (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Residential Rehabilitation Program), teaching them yoga and its many practices to help them manage the effects of PTSD.

 
Karen Miscall Bannon

 

Karen Miscall-Bannon is the director of the Newington Yoga Center 200 hour Embodyoga® Teacher Training Program.

She began her yoga studies in 1985 with Eddie Modestini, and recently with Patty Townsend at Yoga Center Amherst in 2001, where she became certified at the 200-hour and 500-hour levels in Embodyoga®. Karen has assisted Patty in the YCA’s teacher trainings since 2004, and has been teaching parts of the modules since 2007, helping to develop the YCA’s yoga therapeutics program with Patty.

Karen has extensive knowledge of anatomy and Embodyoga®principles, with a focus on yoga therapeutics, stemming from her bodywork practice of over 10 years.

Karen brings a deep love of yoga and yoga philosophy to her teaching, and is known for being able to make abstract concepts accessible to her students.
